Our Journey

This journey is not only about two major Cuban Festivals there is so much more. We will start exploring the backstreets of Havana, including Havana Centro, Old Havana and Vedado. We will visit a famous boxing gym, the oceanside promenade Malecón, and the Prado. We will also visit a beach town close to Havana, Playa del Este, not your ordinary beach.

On December 17, we will photograph ‘El Día de San Lazaro’ - the pilgrimage to the shrine of San Lazaro - one of the largest celebrations of religious faith in Cuba. Located just outside of Havana in the town of Rincon thousands of people who come to make good on some promise they’ve made and to worship San Lazaro.

We will travel to the colonial, perfectly preserved Spanish settlement of Trinidad. Trinidad is a town in central Cuba, known for its colonial old town and cobblestone streets. Its neo-baroque main square, Plaza Mayor, is surrounded by grand colonial buildings.

The next destination will be Santa Clara, Cubas 5th largest city which is located in the most central region of the country.  It’s known for its revolutionary landmarks. In the city's west, the Che Guevara Mausoleum is the resting place of Che Guevara and other fighters. It’s crowned by a massive bronze statue of the revolutionary leader. From Santa Clara we will travel onwards to the village of Remedios, one of the oldest villages, founded in 1513 by the Spaniards where a carnival-like festival known as Las Parrandas de Remedios will be held.

From here we will travel back to Havana to complete our roundtrip.

Both the home stay in a beautiful Cuban Casa particular with gorgeous architecture, and all aspects of the daily itinerary are carefully put together to offer photographers access to the vibrant and authentic daily life of the amazing Cuban people.

The Workshop

We’re passionate about teaching the different aspects of photography. A good amount of time will be spent on reviewing your work during the travel with a detailed feedback and assistance from our side. Our aim is to help you to become comfortable photographing strangers in unfamiliar environment, recognise favourable photography situations, judge the quality of natural light and adjust to low light situations. Our Ebook will be provided to you to help with your learning and we’ll make sure you return home with a beautiful photo essay.
