About Creative Adventure Photo Workshops
Creative Portrait Photography workshops & Inspiring Photo adventure vacations
About us ...
We created Creative Adventure because we love to share our passion for creative photography and adventure travel to unique locations, trying to avoid places which are too often frequented by large tour groups and instead search for hidden gems and explore great local foods on the roads less travelled. We love to share our passion for mentoring and teaching our participants on how they can bring their photography skills to the next level in a relaxed, casual and creative learning experience.
Our mission is to create small group creative photo adventure workshop vacations providing a creative and rewarding learning experience. We offer 6-21 day Photo Adventure Workshops to unique locations and 2-6 day Creative Portrait Photography workshops.
Our workshops offer you an opportunity to combine a unique vacation, or just a few days off, with a wonderful creative learning experience, a unique blend of hands-on and short casual lectures on a variety of topics. Whether you love to travel or you love photography, we invite you to join us on a truly amazing photographic experience of a lifetime.
Our inspiring photo workshops specialise in 2 categories, Photo Adventure Workshops and Creative Portrait photography workshops.
All of our workshops are both, an adventure and a creative journey, some are intense learning experiences, and some are more laid back and relaxed.
But one thing remains the same, we are always enjoying ourselves, whether it is for 1 day or 3 weeks while photographing, learning and becoming inspired. I't all about the experience...
Photo Adventure workshop
Our Photo Adventure Workshops will bring you to unique destinations that are meant for exploring the road less traveled. We will travel in small groups, facilitating cultural interaction, to places where large groups cannot go. Through casual lunchtime-, breaktime- or dinner lectures and feedback on your images, you will improve your photographic skills in general.
Our Photo Adventure workshops are typically between 6-21 days of traveling and exploring visually interesting moments on the the roads less traveled. You will become knowledgeable in photographing with natural light, low light situations, in environmental portrait photography and become comfortable photographing strangers no matter where you will go. The group size will always remain small - between 5-7 participants. Photo Adventure workshops are meant for Beginner, amateur, enthusiast and pro-photographers. Non-photographers are also welcome. Our aim is to assist you with making a photographic essay - wherein you explore how you and your camera can translate the reality that presents itself along the journey into the emotions or story you want to communicate to your audience. This will awake your own photographic voice and enable you to tell the story of this adventure in your own unique visual voice.

Testimonials from previous workshop participants:
TOKYO IN COLOURS || MAY 2017, by Andreas G. Rutsch (Germany)
"An intense and amazing week has finally come to an end. Having never been to this magical city before I explored it a few days on my own before joining Birgit and Harald's workshop. Starting from our apartment in Shinjuku-Ku we ventured out, met great people, enjoyed hot and cold Japanese food and experienced the vibrant contrasts of Tokyo life. I wanted to challenge myself to a different level of photography and got truly inspired by these two wonderful photographers . . . and shot for a long time in colour again ! Tokyo - I will be back and Birgit and Harald hope to see you soon ! You are the best!"
TRANSSIBERIAN RAILWAY MAY 2017, by Linda Omelianchuk (USA)
"The journey on the Trans Siberian Railway, traveling 6,000 miles through seven time zones between Vladivostok and Moscow, was a photography experience I will never forget. Stopping along the way in small villages and cities to visit with everyday Russian people, we discovered the hearts and minds of many Russians as they reached out in friendship, curiosity, and hospitality and as we shared feelings of family, work and patriotism.Traveling second and third class in the train was an authentic Russian experience. We mixed our tea, coffee, soup, and oatmeal with the hot water supplied in each car, made our beds with the clean white sheets given to us, fell asleep to the sound of the wheels on the tracks, and used the single bathroom that we shared with 52 other people. I loved it (well, maybe not the bathroom part).Harald and Birgit were organized, yet flexible in our schedules, leaving room for staying longer in places that interested us most. They, along with Galina, our Russian translator, managed all the train tickets and hotel reservations, so all I had to do was follow along and take photographs! Besides that, they were casual and fun to be with, while also giving me some tips on photography. I would take this journey again and recommend it to anyone who wants to go on a very special, unique photographic experience."
Creative Portrait photography workshop
In our Creative Portrait Photography workshops we specifically want you to learn how to create beautiful Portrait images using natural available light and learn the techniques required through short lectures and hands-on practice so that you will leave inspired with enriched knowledge and beautiful portrait images for your portfolio.
Creative Portrait photography workshops are 1-2 days, immersive Portrait Photography workshops open to digital and analogue photographers. While we choose one location, we may travel shortly during the day to change from one shooting location to another depending on the location of the workshop. We will give short lectures during the workshop on how to find natural available light suitable for portraits and we will speak about finding the correct exposure using your lightmeter. You will also learn the principles of posing that apply in every situation (rather than learning individual poses) and how to find and work with a model. Creative Portrait Photography workshops are meant for Amateur, Enthusiast and pro-photographers. These workshops are meant to learn through practice - to inspire - and to build a portrait portfolio that you will feel proud of. Creative Portrait photography workshops are also suitable for film photographers, 35mm and Medium format. For film photographers we will discuss the Zone System and how to use your lightmeter to ensure that the negatives are correctly exposed.
